Climate Change Adaptation
The European Policy Summit on Water in 2008 issued a clear call for stronger cooperation on Climate Change Adaptation and Water. Around Europe, different stakeholders from different sectors are undertaking a lot of activities and projects, but cooperation and coordination is lacking. This causes a lot of potential to be unused.
The European Water Partnership, together with its partners, will react to this call by setting up a European Dialogue on Climate Change Adaptation and Water. This Dialogue will focus on raising awareness, exchanging experiences and best practices between all stakeholders and the set up of concrete projects to help make sure Europe is safe of climate change. It will be a focal point for coordination in Europe, as well as towards the outside world.
Detailed plans to set up this Dialogue will be presented on this website soon. A first step in setting up a stronger cooperation was already taken in the very successful Conference “Climate Change Adaptation and Water – the need for a stronger Cooperation in Europe” (12,13 March, Brussels), organised by the EWP, the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, UNECE and CPWC.
In preparation of this Conference, the EWP organised a highlevel roundtable on 13 February, the proceedings of which can be downloaded here.
