- Raymond Jost was born on May 14, 1943, in Strasburg, France.After studying educational psychology and criminology at university, he arrived in Quebec in 1965, having won the Canadian Arts Council award for Human Sciences.He spent the next 22 years working with young people in difficulty. In 1988 and 1989, he broadened his horizons: teaching, guest speaking at conferences, travelling and even becoming the producer of a circus.His involvement in international cooperation projects provided him with an in-depth knowledge and practical experience of sustainable development issues.In June 1990, his enthusiasm, skills and a dash of luck earned him the task of organizing the international forum "Water is Life", held in Montreal. This forum brought together a hundred delegates involved in sustainable water management around the world and gave birth to the International Secretariat for Water.Raymond Jost, founder and current General Secretary, has been responsible for its organization, development and expansion. He is well known today as innovator, a visionary skilled in mediation, and a man who respects the human environment, its traditions and cultures.
