In 2006 the European Water Partnership and the Brussels based think tank Friends of Europe (www.friendsofeurope.org) started a joint initiative to tackle the water challenges at the European level: the European Policy Summits on Water.

The goal of these summits, which will remain a fix event on the agenda of the European Water Partnership, is to build and disseminate knowledge on important topics related to water in order to raise these issues on the political as well as the public agenda.

The extra value of these Summits is represented by the mixed composition of its participants: these events have managed so far to attract a large and varied group of stakeholders, including people and organizations that usually are not involved in water-related meetings.
