Pollution of water
Mar 9th, 2010 | posted by: Michal Tamáš
Hello everyone,
my name is Michal Tamáš, I am 17 years old and I live in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. I am interested in water – related problems and my “specialization” is water pollution in Europe. I am also interested in the price and waste of the water. In 2009 I attend a national round of Stockholm Junior Water Prize where I achieved second place. I passed through different competition and my main aim is to spread water issues between young people in Slovakia.
It is well – known that water is getting more expensive and in a few years it could become an strategical raw material, because of the pollution and lack of water in some parts of the world. However, we can do something with this issue. My motto sounds “Water is life, protect it!”.
First of all, I would like to thank to my tutor Mikuláš Bartal for his priceles time and energy. He gives me inspiration and an …

My name is Mathijs Mul, I am 16 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I am interested in water-related problems, which have become increasingly more pressing throughout the past few years. When adressing major water-related issues, I think it is very important to integrate, to combine and to connect knowledge and skills from different fields.
I also believe that the involvement of young people is an essential aspect of a good and useful discussion: because solving water-related problems will be one of tomorrow’s top priorities, it will be one of our main responsibilities.
Together with Marieke Droogsma I have designed the AquaLibra, a water barrier that functions fully automatically . In 2009 we won the Dutch preliminary competition for the Stockholm Junior Water Prize. We attended the World Water Week in Stockholm, where we learnt a lot about water problems and about the way experts think such challenges have to be adressed.
I will briefly explain the principle of the AquaLibra. This short …

I know that we should talk about the water problems in Europe. However I’ve found a very interesting video on one page. Is it connected with water. I really support an effort of this sir. He really persuade me. My opinion is that he’s made a first effective step for lack of water in third countries.
I show the video with this post. Read more to see the Video.
What do you think about it?
Thanks, Michal.
Water Stewardship within Aquawareness
Jan 8th, 2010 | posted by: Daphne Bantjes
In December 2008, within the frame of the EWP programme “Aquawareness” and based on the Water Vision for Europe, the EWP Stewardship programme has been launched with a strategic workshop of stakeholders from various parts and parties of the water sector. The aim of this project is to provide a tool to communicate and award responsible water users through the development of a common framework for assessing, implementing and communicating Sustainable Water Management (SWM).
Due to the high motivation and pro-active engagement of the project participants, this Stewardship initiative quickly found its recognition within the European water sector and within the global Water Stewardship process where it represents the “Regional Water Stewardship Initiative for Europe”.
European Youth Water Summit Blog

The European Youth Water Summit Blog will be a platform for young Europeans to come together for solving common Water Problems and Challenges. It will give the floor to young citizens aged between 15 and 25 years and coming from all 27 EU Member states, to share and discuss water community challenges, needs and priorities and their experience and activities done in this field. Later during the summit organised in Brussels, they will be included into the debates and discussions at European level, enabling an active exchange with European decision makers – the Members of the European Parliament, representatives of the incoming European Commission as well as the Spanish Council Presidency, but also with peers in different regions and countries.
This event will also facilitate a better understanding of the role and functioning of EU Institutions and the daily life of European representatives. Local initiatives and established national water parliaments will be supported by giving high visibility on the Brussels level for …
Water Awareness Program within Aquawareness
Jan 7th, 2010 | posted by: Faisal Khan
The European Water Awareness Program runs within Aquawareness and directs to introduce a water saving and water efficient culture among political decision makers, key stakeholders and inhabitants within Europe. The basic tool to implement awareness on sustainable water use on all social and geographical levels is to make information available for everybody. Improved information creates transparency on the water situation and ensures a realistic and objective decision making process. In that way the program ensures the change of behavior, practices and habits and supports an efficient policy making process.
Within this Awareness Program, several ideas can stem towards Youth Summit.
