STREAM

The European Union (EU) has invested considerable resources over the last decade to support the development of water technologies. As is often the case with innovative technologies, there are currently few resources to pursue this process in the needed scale, and the uptake potential of water technologies and other environmental technologies resulting from EU-funded research seems limited due to insufficient awareness of their developments and the opportunities they offer. Raising awareness among researchers, policy makers, businessmen and industries, as well as the large public is paramount to the full exploitation of these technologies which are able to boost economic growth and social welfare.

The STREAM project intends to tackle this issue by bringing these research results and water technologies to the interest of potential uptakers through a diversified series of dissemination and communication actions tailored to the needs of the different categories of stakeholders. These include Policy Seminars to be held in different European regions and the production of audiovisual material. Furthermore, two Summer Schools, e-learning courses and webinars for research events will be organized. A Symposium at the European Parliament in Brussels will be the final event where the results of the projects will be presented.

The EWP is responsible for identifying the state of the art results in earlier EU-funded projects, making a detailed overview of EU legislation on water and making this information ready for targeted dissemination. Furthermore, the EWP will organize the policy seminars and the Symposium. The other three partners, MINERVA, MENON and Europe for Business are responsible for the other tasks. STREAM has started on the 1st of January 2011 and will run for 2 years.
