EWS Members’ Council Approves Revisions to EWS Standard

Oct 24th, 2017 |

The EWS Members’ Council met on the 4th of October in order to get an update on the key achievements of the year and provide input for key roll out activities for the following year. The Council also had as a primary item on the agenda to approve the proposed changes to the EWS standard. The main driver behind this revision cycle was to ensure alignment with the AWS standard and ensure that all elements were included in the new international standard.

The main changes in this revision include:

  • Upgrading all recommendation indicators to minor.
  • Deletion of three indicators: 2.1.6, 4.2.2 and 4.7.2
  • Changes to indicators: 1.1.3, 1.2.1, 1.2.4, 2.1.1, 2.1.6
  • Edition of Criterion 2.1

For sites going for certification or re-certification in 2018, either version 2012 or version 2017 can be used. Sites performing their annual surveillance audit should continue to use version 4.8 2012 in 2018.
