Water Stewardship as a Backbone for Water Management in Cities
Apr 29th, 2016 |
The 8th EU conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns took place on the 27-29th April in Bilbao, Spain. It provided the platform to talk about all the frameworks affecting cities (such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Paris Climate Agreement, next UE Urban agenda) and how cities could link up and benefit from them. City leaders, representatives from the UN, EU and civil society discussed the needs of cities and the potential of those frameworks for accelerating the urban transformation.
Maria Valle presented a poster at the conference where Water Stewardship was introduced as the backbone and a fundamental tool for a city’s water management, to ensure that water-related risks are addressed by a continuous monitoring system and to create a solid starting point to set targeted and integrated response strategies.
