Message from EWP Chairman Tom Vereijken

Jun 30th, 2014 |

Brussels, 30th June 2014.

Dear colleagues,

Our flagship initiative, the European Water Stewardship, has experienced a considerable uptake over the past year. Thanks to our partners and the EWS team under the leadership of our current EWS Director Sabine von Wirén-Lehr, EWS has arrived in a promising expansion phase, in which we currently execute our action plans. However, Sabine will redirect her career and professional activities, and therefore leaves EWP by July 14th, 2014.

Starting 6 years ago as a EWP program under Sabine´s management, and in close cooperation with our partners EWS has reached important milestones to be proud of: the Launch of the EWS Standard in November 2011, the first EWS trainings in 2012, a growing amount of EWS certifications of industrial production sites, and the full embedding of EWS as European Regional Representation of the global Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS). Furthermore, the first EWS Member Council will take place July 3rd, 2014.

We are very grateful to Sabine and sincerely thank her for her dedication, professionalism and enthusiasm, bringing the European Water Stewardship from a vision to its current status of being a valuable, commonly accepted and innovative approach for sustainable water management.

And there are more challenges and achievements to thrive for in the near future! We are therefore pleased to inform you that Mr. Sergiy Moroz will take over the EWS Director tasks in order to ensure the implementation of the EWS action plan 2014 and beyond. We will keep you updated on the ongoing process. Sergiy can be reached at s.moroz@ewp.eu.

Sincerely yours,

Tom Vereijken

EWP Chairman
