Declaration on the continuation of the European Innovation Partnership on Water adopted

Brussels, 28.05.2014. The Steering Group for the European Innovation Partnership on Water met on Friday 23rd of May in Brussels and recognised some of its achievements to-date:
- Since the start of the operational phase of the EIP Water in December 2012, 25 Action Groups have been selected, developing applicable innovative solutions on a voluntary basis.
- 50 million Euro has been made available from the 7th framework Programme, funding 11 demonstration projects in line with the EIP Water priorities.
- Water innovation focus area of Horizon 2020 provides 84 million Euro for demonstration and market replication projects in line with the EIP Water priority areas.
- Throughout 2014 several showcases of successful innovations, fostering growth and ensuring sustainable water management will be compiled and disseminated, amongst others through the online Market Place, which connects over 1200 innovators, innovation enablers and demand side organizations.
Based on this the Steering Group adopted the declaration on the continuation of the EIP Water for the incoming Environment Commissioner.
Among other key decisions, the EIP Water Steering Group agreed on opening a limited call for commitments to establish Action Groups in November 2014, particularly focusing on under-represented priority areas and encouraging participation of actors from central and eastern European Member States. In addition to this, it was decided to specify the focus of the EIP Water for the period 2015 – 2017 in an updated Strategic Implementation Plan, which is going to be finalized by May 2015.
Furthermore, it was announced that the annual EIP Water conference will be organized in Barcelona on the 5th and 6th of November. The city of Barcelona, European Innovation Capital 2014 will host the conference.
