Using EWS to Reach Corporate Water Goals: An Interview with BASF

In a recent interview with Springer for Professionals, Brigitte Dittrich – Krämer of Corporate Sustainability Relations, BASF Water highlighted how BASF is addressing the sustainable use of water and the protection of water resources throughout the world via collaboration with representatives from NGOs, policy as well as industry.
In particular, BASF has used the EWS standard within their production sites and demonstration farms to check the sustainability of their water use.
The article exemplifies the manner in which corporates are using EWS to reach their corporate water objectives. For BASF, this includes applying the EWS standard in areas of water stress while also striving to reduce emissions of organic substances and nitrogen in the water by 80 percent by 2020 (compared to the base year 2002).
