EWP supports the ‘Generation Awake’ Campaign

The European Water Partnership took the initiative to support the European Commission’s Campaign on Resource Efficiency -‘Generation Awake’. The campaign’s philosophy that while consumption is unavoidable, particularly of water, it is time to admit that our choices impact the planet’s resources. We have to realize we can no longer afford consumption habits that do not take into account environmental, social and economic impacts.

The ‘Generation Awake’ campaign addresses all natural resources (air, water, wood/timber, soil, metals, minerals, biodiversity), and cross-cutting issues: mobility, nutrition, housing and many more.

EWP emphasizes that in 2012 water has been promoted as an important political priority. However, water will still remain one of the milestone topics within the Commission’s Campaign and therefore EWP is delighted to support to the campaign’s causes in a long term.

As an independent non-profit organization EWP is involved in water-related projects focusing specifically on water saving, stewardship and awareness. A major EWP initiative is Aquawareness which aims at building up a water efficient culture in Europe through organization of events and through communicating  social media (www.facebook.com/Aquawareness). Another important active EWP activity is the European Water Stewardship (EWS) under the direction of Dr. Sabine von Wirén-Lehr, focusing specifically on the promotion of stewardship principles in industry, agriculture and the airport sectors.
