EWP Workshop “Blueprint policy options and recommendations”, 20th of December, Brussels
Dec 2nd, 2011 |
The European Commission is preparing the Blueprint Communication to be ready by November 2012, which will offer a set of policy options and recommendations to tackle the challenges, gaps and barriers of current EU Water Policy.
EWP is being supported by DG-Environment to carry out a series of stakeholders consultations that will contribute to concrete recommendations and input to the European Commission’s Blueprint stakeholders’ consultation process in 2012. In this respect, EWP organizes two workshops (October-December) with members, partners and key players with the aim of preparing a recommendation paper with concrete options and inputs for the Blueprint legislation.
The first workshop took place on the 5th of October in order to discuss results of the EU Water Policy fitness check report, collection of input from participants, set the scope and draft of policy options and recommendations EWP paper. The output of this workshop was a series of recommendations drafted in a policy paper.
The second workshop will take place on the 20th of December 2011 at the Representation of Lower Saxony to the EU, Rue Montoyer 61, 1000 Brussels in order to finalize input and recommendations for the final EWP contribution. The output of this workshop is to finalize the policy paper to be transmitted to the European Commission. This policy paper will include the acknowledgement of contributors to this process by making visible their participation in the process.

EWP would like to thank you for taking part in this exercise.
In addition, EWP has set up a European Dialogue Platform on Climate Change Adaptation on water and energy. Since the Climate Change is one of the pillars for the construction of the future Blueprint communication and since many stakeholders have already expressed that not enough initiatives and actions are taking place at European level, the workshop will also include a deep reflection and discussion on the integration of a Climate Change chapter into the future Blueprint, as part of the options and recommendations to be formulated in the policy paper.
Please communicate your interest and availability before 12th of December 2011.
