18.11.2010: Workshop “Flood Risk Management”

Nov 12th, 2010 |

Brussels, 12 November 2010. The EWP Vice-Chairman, Mr. Fritz Barth, will speak on the occasion of the workshop “Flood risk management – engineering services of Saxony-Anhalt”, presenting the future challenges and perspectives in Europe. The workshop will take place at the Representation of Saxony-Anhalt to the EU in Brussels, Belgium, on the 18th of November 2010.

With the passing of the EU directive regarding assessment and management of flood risks new standards of flood prevention have been set. In view of potential threats to human life, economic goods and the environment, Europe’s aim of sustainable development could be seriously jeopardised if appropriate measures are not taken.

This being the situation, the aim of this workshop is to exchange experiences regarding flood prevention and technical flood control in affected EU regions and look at the approaches and experiences concerning the implementation of the European flood risk management directive.

Please find the draft of the workshop schedule here. The workshop is accompanied by an exhibition at the Representation of Saxony-Anhalt.

If you need further in information about the workshop, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Gábor Spuller, Policy Officer for Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment: gabor.spuller@lv-bruessel.stk.sachsen-anhalt.de
