Limassol, 29th June 2010. “Water is a national asset for every country” said Ms. Egly Pantelakis, Permamnent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, Cyprus when opening the seminar “Promoting sustainable water management”. Organised by the Committee of the Regions and the Union of Cyprus Municipalities, this one day intensive workshop looks at policy strategies, projects and concrete actions towards achieving the good status of ground and surface waters. Representives of local authorities and regional bodies together with members of the European Institutions and key actors discuss successful examples across localities and regions of the EU in sustainable water management. The EWP was invited to present its case of “promoting aquawareness throughout Europe”.
