EWP launches photo competition “Who cares … about water? Nature does!” for youngsters

May 6th, 2010 |

Brussels, 6 May 2010.  The European Water Partnership has launched its first photographic competition “Who cares … about water? Nature does!”, inviting young European talents, aged between 18-25, to capture their interpretation of the title in pictures.

This competition will give the floor to creative youngsters living in Europe to express their view on interlinkeages between water and biodiversity in an artistic manner. “As a follow up of the first European Youth Water Summit 2010 this amateur photographic competition will show different views through intercultural and easily understandable language. In addition, this display will promote and enhance better involvement of young people in global water issues”, said Agnes Biesiekierska, director of the competition and project manager of the Aquawareness programme.

To participate in the competition, candidates need to submit electronically up to two pictures before Wednesday, 26th May, 5 pm Brussels time, to click@ewp.eu. The competition will examine photographer’s skills, creativity, the artistic realization of the title and the intercultural comprehensibility.

All works will be exhibited during Europe’s most prominent environmental conference, the Green Week, to be held in Brussels, 1st-4th June 2010. The winners will be invited to receive attractive prices at the Aquawareness photo competition award ceremony, taking place in a European Capital. Place and date of the ceremony will be released soon.
