Mar 24th, 2010 |
Apeldoorn, 24 March 2010. The second issue of the AquaFit4Use newsletter “AquaFit4News” is available. This issue contains a coverage on the pilot work being performed at a Spanish paper mill, Holmen. Moreover, the Denutritor technology which is developed by TNO/Deltares already shows good results on-site at Perstorp Speciality Chemicals and Unilever’s Ben & Jerry’s. The Denutritor is a biofilter that uses controlled biological growth to keep micro-organisms out of the water. Returning features are the upcoming events and the Coordinator’s Column.
The AquaFit4use project aims at a more sustainable use of water in the main water consuming industries. Through development and implementation of new, reliable and cost-effective technologies, tools and methods, a far-going closure of the water cycle in these industries is foreseen. Consequently, the intake of fresh water and the disposal of wastewater will be reduced significantly as will the burden imposed by this on the environment.
