Technical workshop on “Communication of Sustainable Water Management (SWM)”
Sep 8th, 2009 |
Due to the high motivation and pro-active engagement of the project participants, the EWP Stewardship project “Communication of Sustainable Water Management (SWM)” has found its recognition within the European water sector and within the actual global Water Stewardship process where it represents the regional Water Stewardship Initiative for Europe.
Within the last months, four working groups (WG) have finalized their inventory on existent policy and water management systems in their sectors (industry, tourism, agriculture and urban areas). Based on the findings of “what is out there in reality”, the WGs will set up criteria and indicator lists for SWM and define potential ways of implementation within in existent systems.
In order to critically reflect and to professionally accompany this challenging task, the EWP organizes a Technical Project Workshop which will take place on Friday, 9th of October 2009, in the meeting rooms of EWP in Brussels.
With the sustain of invited external experts participants will have the opportunity to
- Exchange and discuss on actual assessment systems and tools for Water Stewardship and their potential for implementation
- Critically review the draft sets of criteria and indicators that have been defined in the EWP WGs for the sectors
- Define major gaps, needs and potential solutions for the further development of the draft indicator and criteria sets.
Target audience and expected attendances: experts on indicators and standards of sustainable water management.
