Upcoming conference in Moldova organized by Women for Water Partnership
May 12th, 2009 |
The Working conference, which will be held in Moldova 18-20th of May 2009, has already 80 registrations.
The title of the conference is ‘From policy to practice: developing sustainable water and health projects for Moldova. It is the first national WfWP working conference. The organisers are WfWP’s Moldavian members, Business Professional Women (BPW) and WISDOM. The Soroptimists Club Chisinau, Ecotox, Black Sea Women’s Club (BSWC), Solidarity Water Europe in Moldova (SEAM) and Eco-TIRAS are actively involved.
The main aim of the conference is to link targets to concrete projects. In order to prepare the participating local organisations have prepared cases in cooperation with each other. WISDOM has worked together with the Soroptimist club in Chisinau to prepare a Soroptimists case for the working conference. This is a very good example of the way WfWP members prosper from the WfWP network. On the last day of the conference the practice will be experienced with a visit to an ecosanitation project in the rural area just outside Chisinau.
The conference is part of a process which is targeted to develop a sustainable network in Moldova on water and sanitation. The whole process is primarily financed by the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment. The process aims at optimal use of local knowledge, capacity and concrete projects with commitment of all stakeholders for the Ad Hoc Project Facilitation Mechanism. The ultimate objective is not only to improve the water and sanitation situation in Moldova, but also to increase the international visibility of Moldova.
